Voodoo Bayou brings the vibrant flavors and soulful spirit of New Orleans right to the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Nestled conveniently on E Las Olas Blvd, this restaurant serves up an authentic Cajun-Creole dining experience that is equal parts down-to-earth comfort and refined culinary craftsmanship.
From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, lively atmosphere that pulses with southern charm and a touch of modern flair. Whether you’re perched on the balcony for some prime people-watching or settled inside amid the eclectic décor, Voodoo Bayou invites you to slow down and savor every bite.
The menu is a treasure trove of classic New Orleans dishes with a bold, contemporary edge. Start your feast with the Fried Green Tomatoes, perfectly crispy and paired with smoky pork belly, pimento cheese, and tangy tomato jam—a harmony of textures and flavors that dance on the palate. The Shakey’s Gator Tail Chicken Fried is a must-try appetizer: tender, flavorful chicken fried to golden perfection and served with charred lemon and chipotle aioli, tantalizing your senses with a smoky, spicy zip.
Seafood lovers will find the Oysters an irresistible highlight—whether raw with a variety of classic New Orleans fixins’, wood-fired and smothered in chili butter and cheese, or crispy fried with zesty NOLA remoulade, each bite bursts with ocean-fresh goodness and indulgent richness. The famed Cornbread, generously portioned and sweet without being overpowering, is the perfect companion to your meal, a crowd favorite as echoed by many patrons.
When it comes to mains, the Golden Fried Chicken with Biscuits and Honey Gravy stands out as a beautifully executed dish—juicy, crispy, and comforting. Diners appreciate the attention to authentic bone-in chicken that is seasoned just right. The Jambalaya offers a flavorful, hearty taste of the bayou, bringing together rice, sausage, and spices in a crescendo of Southern heat and smokiness. Fresh catches like the Redfish on “The Half Shell” and the Creole Mustard Salmon showcase expert preparation, served with flavorful sides such as braised green beans and white rice that soak up every drop of creole sauce.
No New Orleans meal is complete without a signature cocktail, and Voodoo Bayou delivers with drinks like the aromatic Lavender Martini and robust Espresso Martini. Brunch or celebratory occasions call for a crisp Mimosa, perfectly balancing fruit and effervescence. And don’t skip dessert—the creamy, nostalgic Banana Pudding provides a sweet and satisfying finish that lingers delightfully on the tongue.
What truly sets Voodoo Bayou apart is the passionate craftsmanship behind every dish. Chef Tyler’s dedication shines through in every detail, from scratch-made sauces to perfectly fried wings that pack just the right punch of heat and crispness. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe that makes this spot feel like a true neighborhood gem. Despite minor critiques like the occasional greasiness of beignets or a desire for more classic NOLA cocktails, guests leave feeling delighted, full, and eager to return.
Whether you crave the smoky, bold flavors of Cajun ribeye, the comforting spirit of a shrimp po’ boy, or the joy of sharing plates with friends under the Florida sun, Voodoo Bayou delivers an immersive New Orleans culinary journey you won’t soon forget.
For an authentic taste of the bayou, paired with a vibrant atmosphere in a prime Fort Lauderdale location, Voodoo Bayou is your go-to destination to eat oysters, love longer, and savor soulful Southern hospitality.
If you’re looking for a little taste & feel New Orleans you’ve got it here! I come strictly for the chili butter oysters & cornbread. The oysters are fresh every time & taste amazing. The are cleaned properly as well an accompanied with mini pieces of toast. The corn bread is big enough for 2-3 people to share and is nicely sweet without being too over powering. They fry their wings hard, so if that isn’t your thing (like me) maybe pass, but my sister loves them. There is literally nothing in the menu that I have tried and not liked. Shrimp & grits were okay (NOLA does it better of course) & their chicken thigh dish is finger licking good. The staff is asked attentive and friendly (shout out Phabie for all the tasty recommendations & 5 star experience). Their happy hour specials are pretty hard to bet too! The ambience gives dan and mysterious in a tasteful way, and the bar has pretty much every beverage you could possibly think of.
Fun spot that adds a lot of personality to the area! Highlights: good flavor to the jambalaya, really excellent biscuits. Fried chicken was good, really appreciated that it’s bone in chicken. Hiccups: beignets were a little greasy inside, but the overall flavor was ok. I also wish that the drink menu had more Nola classics. It’s a stunning bar design with a lot of options, but I found myself missing the Nola staple drinks. Friendly, attentive service and a fun design to the space. I’d definitely stop by again to try more of their Creole energy dishes.
Great food, great location and a cool venue make this a place to try! They have a New Orleans themed menu with all the classics that you would hope to find. The fried chicken was tasty, the cornbread was delicious and the beignets were a great way to top off the meal! They also have a kids menu and our daughters enjoyed their food as well. Service was friendly and our food came out quickly. The venue is really well themed and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Great spot for people watching on the balcony and great food. Me and friendly split the Cheddar cornbread waffle and half a chicken! I expected more seasoning on the chicken but it was juicy, crispy and hot! Fast service on a busy Friday night. We left before the band at 930pm.
Super unique. Absolutely delicious gourmet and refined food but from scratch, down to Earth and creative. Tyler is the heart of this place. He has tremendous talent and passion for people and food and experience in the mixture that he brings to this location is one of the reasons why you should go there . Make sure to interact with him while you are there. He really brings the specialty and uniqueness to this place full circle by making sure it's integrated into your experience. They have three locations but they have stuff you'll never see elsewhere like an Elvira mug for one of the drinks, a pistol for a beer tap, a huge block of ice stamped and smoking, a black magic lemonade with embers glowing from a stem of rosemary. Combine that with great upbeat music , sports games for viewing, and absolutely unique and incredible dishes. With an unbelievable crawfish etouffee. If you love that dish then this is your place. Also some incredible events featuring specific things like prime rib on Thursday, or Wednesday night wood fired oysters with Chili Butter, or Smoked Wings on Tuesday. This is the place I make sure to hit to regularly, but also to celebrate my birthday because it just has so many fantastic and fun things that I absolutely love. Not too many places that literally have completely different dishes that are phenomenal. This place will not disappoint.
I loved this place!! We went for our anniversary and the decor was standout fabulous. The vibe was cool, the entertainer singing was really great. The service was immediate and the food was bomb. Had the deviled eggs & barbecue shrimp for starters. Great flavor, perfectly seasoned, shrimp plump & juicy. Then wifey had the salmon for dinner I had the shrimp & crawfish etoufee. Again great flavor and food tasted fresh. Then for dessert the beignets, they were fire! I'm chilling out with the drinling so no cocktails for me but they looked great. Just loved the vibe and had a great night.
Came here Monday night and absolutely loved it. I’m all about a good vibe, and this place nailed it. The atmosphere and décor are super cool and really set the mood. The food was great and totally enjoyable. The host at the door was amazing — friendly, welcoming, and informative. Our server was great too. Overall, such a good experience all around. Definitely would come back!
